Lawton Company was incorporated as a General Contracting and Construction Management company in the state of NH in June of 1992 after serving the greater Salt Lake City and Park City, UT region as DA Lawton Builders since the mid-seventies. Lawton Company was established to serve the growing market of clients who desire a professional, detail-oriented and well organized approach to contracting that fulfills their building and capital improvement needs. Since that time, the company has continued to thrive as a family owned and operated business.The company averages 25 full-time employees and tradesmen engaged in General Contracting, CM work and trade services in three different states. Although the projects vary from civil construction to commercial, residential and subcontract work, the method of administering them and commitment to the Construction Management process does not change.
Shad Lawton is the President and General Manager of the company. He grew up “in the business” as they say and worked as a framer throughout high school and during his college years. After several years working throughout the lakes region and ski country of NH, VT and ME he had to fulfill his destiny by taking a mandatory ski bum pilgrimage to Lake Tahoe where he further honed his skills building Lake Homes and Resort Lodge and Hotel Buildings at and around Heavenly Resort in addition to discovering the joy of endless sunshine and bottomless powder. He returned to the family company as a Superintendent in 1999 and purchased the company with his wife Janel in 2014. Shad brings a well trained eye for quality craftsmanship, tenacious attention to detail, and a commitment to building strong relationships to the business.
Janel Lawton is Vice President of Lawton Company. Prior to her ownership role at the company, Janel spent a couple of years honing her Project Management skills as the Director of Web Operations for Performance, Inc. Her experience in marketing and the Retail Industry have been with well-established, successful companies including The North Face, Loon Mountain, Garnet Hill, and Performance Bicycle. Janel’s experience in eCommerce with a focus on Omni Channel Sales and the customer experience enables her to bring a new level of organizational, marketing and project management skills that will ensure growth of the company in today’s digital and socially driven marketplace. Operationally, Janel excels at creating and executing strategies and management of her team for efficiency, productivity and smooth day to day operations
Bradford Weekes joined Lawton Company as an apprentice Project Manager in 2016; while finishing his BA in Accounting and working on a Future Business Leaders in Construction Certificate from ABC. Bradford supports the PM team with contract administration, prequalification and bid preparation, estimating, purchasing, subcontract management, and insurance management. Bradford’s versatility and work ethic make him an asset in the office as well as in the field.
Donald Lawton is the founder of Lawton Company. He is an author on the subject of construction management and was awarded Associated Builders and Contractor’s Instructor of the Year honors in 1989-1990 for his development and regional implementation of an estimating course used to train project managers.
Victoria Lawton served as the Controller for the Lawton Company, and has been instrumental in the transition of all aspects of the business to the next generation. She is a former Executive Director of Ski 93, developing and implementing the international marketing program for the White Mountain region. She has 25 years of experience in all aspects of sales, marketing and business operations.
